Dr. Walters earned his Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland/United Kingdom, his Master of Divinity, and his postgraduate Master of Sacred Theology from Boston University in Philosophy, Religion/Theology, Ethics (Social and Religious), Criminology and Comparative Criminal Justice/US and UK. He teaches World Religions, Introduction to Philosophy, Applied Ethics, Criminal Justice, Race and Justice policy, and Religion and Society
He has written four books: Locked Up and Locked Down: Multitude Lingers in Limbo Revised Edition, and Nuggets From The Night: An Anthology of Poetic Expressions, Vol. One. Prison Chaplains on the Beat in US and UK Prisons: Caring for Aging, Dying and Dead Prisoners, God in the Name of Jesus Christ.
Dr. Walters has served as Assistant Pastor and pastor for churches in the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church: Holbrook UMC, Lexington UMC, Weymouth UMC, and Trinity UMC. In the New England Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Dr. Walters has served as minister at Grant AME and Bethel AME. He has a heart for discipleship, evangelism, social justice, economic empowerment, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Rev. Walters is a worship leader with three gospel albums: I Believe, Hold On You Will Survive, and Beyond the Blues. One of his songs, God’s Been Good to Me was nominated Gospel Single of the Year in 2004. He has a family with two boys. His favorite Bible verse is: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight" (Proverbs 3: 5-6).
